Madrid Airport Departures And Procedures

Just like any other International airport, Madrid airport departures has set procedures and passengers flying from Barajas airport, are required to follow those procedures that are set in place.
Madrid Barajas airport has four terminals, T1, T2, T3 and T4. Each of the different airlines that service Barajas airport has been designated a terminal and passengers wishing to fly with any of these airlines, will need to make their way to the appropriate terminal that has been designated to the airline they are flying with.
If you are flying from Madrid Barajas, the terminal number from which you will be departing from should be indicated on your ticket. However, if this is not the case, you can simplyt check on one of the monitors that are located at the airport entrance, to find out which Terminal you require.
In each one of the Terminals, there are information boards that inform passengers which check-in desk number is assigned for each flight. It is advised to ensure you take note of this information and double check, simply because the check-in desk number for flights can change.

Check – In Procedures At Madrid Airport Departures

Upon arrival at your designated check-in desk, you will be required to present a valid passport and any other documentation required to fly, you will also be required to check-in any hold luggage (Please ensure you are familiar with your airlines baggage allowance, as each airlines policies vary). At the check-in desk, you will be issued with your boarding card and departure gate number,  you will need this boarding card to clear security and also to board the aircraft.
Many airlines now allow passengers to check-in online and if you choose to use this option, please ensure you have printed off your boarding card and have it with you before you leave for the airport. If you arrive at the airport without your boarding card, it will mean that the airline will need to issue you with a new one and this can be a very costly experience!
Once you have successfully checked-in to your flight, you will need to make your way to security, e you will be required to present the appropriate documentation and also place your hand luggage through a scanner. You yourself will also be required to pass through a security scanner.
Note: Please ensure you are familiar with the airport security allowance regarding hand luggage and liquids, as any excess will be confiscated.
Having cleared airport security, you will now be able to make your way to the main departures area, where you can enjoy browsing round the several shops and looking at the Duty Free. There are also many bars and restaurants offering a wide range food and drink, where you can sit and relax while you await your flight.
You will receive a boarding call over the airport tannoy system but it is always a good idea to keep checking the monitors!
